I hate charter
So I am sitting trying to CHAT LIVE with a Charter representative trying to find out why my bill went up $4. They say my HD tier went up. What the heck is HD tier. I want to start I hate Charter club so please all sign up and lets take this beast down. I have been told 3 different things since i signed up this time and each time my bill went up. Charter is set up for people to stay with them 6 months and then disconnect just to reconnect so they can get a deal. Shouldn't it be the other way around. Should't members who have been with them for a long period of time get the deals. So tonight I have talked to Gregory, Willie, and now Shiela. Non of them know whay they are doing. They only read lines from the charter book of "what to say when a customer figures out we are skrewing them" when customers ask WHY. But what can we do, if you go to Dish Network you still almost pay the same amount but I will give them a try at the end of my deal. Oh my goodness, i am almost cussing at my computer because once again i have been disconnected. Charter sucks..chant it with me, CHARTER REALLY SUCKS. I am sorry for this boring blog post but i just haven't had time to post anything cool. Well i just found out the FCC is a networking privacy fee. You ask what does that mean. I say please call charter to find out because I don't know. I am not watching PDIDDY in a movie on TV trying to act. Wait, there is John Stamus also.

I read an article the other day about cable...apparently when the Feds regulated the cable industry it was like 20 bucks a month (I believe they gave up control in the early 90's). you should write your congressman and tell him you want things status quo ante
Paynes need to blog more. Saturday night was fun! Erin and I are the pros (at throwing gutter balls)
For real dawg, where's the blogs at?
CHARTER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Charter offered me a phone, internet, cable package $67.95 + tax = $82.00. They screw up my DirectTV, fail to hook up my internet, and don't even hook up 2 of the 3 tv's using Charter. Two service calls later it is resolved with one free month of services and hbo free for a year. The first install man leaves the underground crawl space open in my babies room open, where my baby could have fallen below or a bug or animal could have come into his room. Three months later they add a family tier (not authorized by me) and charge twice for HBO. They say they credit 2 months but only credit one. Interacted with 9 Charter employees and 6 were idiots and 3 were great. Needless to say they have gone back on the offer of HBO for free for 12 months and when my current cycle is up they can come pick up their equipment. CHARTER is pathetic!!!!
Charter sucks! I moved to a new apartment gave them two weeks notice and they still screwed it up and didn't show. Then they fed me some line that the previous tenant wasn't scheduled to be disconnected until July 15 (today) when I moved in on the 10th.
Today everything got physically disconnected. So I am dumping them. I got DSL for 35$/motnh and satellite TV with all the channells I have now with Charter for $25/month for a year then it will be $70/month, even after my staellite goes up it will still be less than half of what I was paying Charter.
No more cable for me, my last provider sucked too. I am done paying 100's every month for lousy services and being treated like I am some moron.
there now I feel better.
Oh, in addition to my last comments, I am getting all my staellite equipment including HD, DVR, and extra receiver, plus the installation, plus everything the guy needs to do the installation for FREE!. By the way, this is from Dish Network.
I will pay nothing per box each month to have them, the equipment will more or less be mine, and the HD box will record two shows, and support to televisions. I do not have to do anything.
My DSL from AT&T I get the equipment, they are waiving the install, and anything required for setup of my 6MB DSL. I know what everyone says about DSL, but nothing can be as bad as Charter.
I am happy to deal with reception issues with Satellite, because as soon as U-Verse is available, I am getting that.

Two weeks ago, I scheduled a technician to come to my home and switch out boxes for today, 9-29-09. The technician was to be at my home between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. I was told that he would call before arriving. I took the day off work to be at home. I called in to your customer service line 3 times today and was then told that he would be here by 7:00 pm. It is now 7:08 and he has not yet arrived. I am so angry with the lack of customer service by Charter. In Nevada, Cable Television is regulated by the Public Service Commission. I will be filing a complaint tomorrow!!!!
Hi,
I came across your blog http://bpayne.blogspot.com/and think it looks great. I thought it would be good for both of us to do a content link exchange. If you are interested please send me a mail at davidwilsen@gmail.com .
Thanks
David,
I just ran across your blog. I too HATE CHARTER.
I have been waiting to get AT&T Uverse but I can't wait anymore.
My major problems started when the Digital transmission took affect. Shortly after
My internet started dropping out, I started getting pixelation, and my phone started sounding like a echo
chamber according to people I called.
I spent two weeks working with poor phone support and had to have a technician come out several times.
They finally left with only the internet stablized.
Over the ensuing months I have had to put up with pixelation on their "digital" channels.
Then this past week comes.....
I am a contractor and depend on my internet connection. Friday night I sat down to check my email before I left for the weekend.
No internet. I checked my modem. Ooops no connection.. Reset the modem... still no connection... disconnect everything and reset
modem... no connection....
OK.... Call tech support... 10 min...20min.. ahh finally bunch of back and forth to finally be told there was an outtage in burbank.
Fine... I let it go. I left for the weekend and came back Sunday evening... Monday morning I sat down to work... no internet.
OK.... Call tech support... 10 min...20min.. ahh finally bunch of back and forth to finally be told there was an outtage in burbank.
Here we go again....
Drove into client and worked there.
Get home late decided to deal with it tues. Ok Tues morning. Again no internet.
Called tech support. Hey no outtage in Burbank. Turns out there never was according to the techie.
So they asked me to reset everything. I told the techie I wanted a new modem. They couldn't do that.
Would I like to have a technician show up? No. I'll go to the local Charter office.
Sir your connections may be loose. I lost it. Back and forth finally convinced the young idiot that I knew what the
heck I was doing after 30years of working with hardware. Probably longer than they have been alive.
Got transffered to billing. After 30 mins of VERIFYING who I was I got the chickie to refund the time out for the outtage.
Then she tried to UPSELL ME!!! I sat there say NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.....Then she asked how many tv's I have.. WTF?!!!
SHe said she didn't want me to miss out on special offers... I told her what she could do with the special offer and hung up.
Tomorrow DirecTV is coming out to install satillite.
Tues AT&T is coming out to give me a land line and DSL.
I am through with CHARTER. I WILL NEVER EVER go back to them. I am through!
I'd rather poke my eyes out than deal with them.
I'd rather get two coffee cans and a string!
I'd rather listen to radio than pay charter for sub quality customer service and out of control fees.
Some other poster indicated the nickle and diming. Yeah... I've seen my bill go from 65.00/month to 130.00/month.
I am through.. Anyone considering Charter, RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!! Call Dish or DirecTV. Get DSL!!! Screw Charter.
So it has gotten worse. Charter still sucks and now they have a conspiracy going with billing.
As previously posted, I moved last year and went through turmoil to get everything hooked up. Long story short, I would get satellite, but I am at the wrong end of my building on the wrong side. For Satellite to work I would basically have to point the dish through the building. OK, no satellite.
I got rid of Charter Internet and got AT&T DSL since U-verse STILL is not available. I have not had a problem with it yet, and have not even had to call them about any issues.
Of course Charter still takes the cake with scams. So after I move and go through all the turmoil my bill with Charter should be $65 give or take. It is $100 or more, and I just discovered last week that when you move they give you a brand new account number. But they did not tell me this, so I have been paying my bill with the old one, and of course they keep turning off the cable.
This was not apparent since my online account only showed one account UNTIL...The other day when they turned it off right in front of me and I logged on and low and behold, there are TWO accounts listed. The one with no balance and NO SERVICE showing the payment I made just a month ago.
I give up. I cannot win. Let's go back to Analog broadcast, modems, and land lines.
CJ that sucks that you can't get satellite T, I had Charter for years before I moved to Colorado to take a job at DISH Network. Charter's customer service was terrible and if you did need a technician it took up to 3 weeks. By contrast DISH technicians work 7 days a week, and the customer service is available 24/7/365.
Oh man that really does stink that you can't get satellite at your apt. I had the same problems with Charter and went to work/subscribe with DISH, got a great deal and am now very happy. No wonder DISH has been ranked #1 among all satellite and cable providers in customer satisfaction!
